If you reside in Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, see Section 14 (Other U.S. State Privacy Rights). Life Insured By Chris ("we," "us," or "our") is an independent life insurance brokerage that provides education, consultation, and quote-comparison services connecting consumers with licensed insurance agents and third-party carriers. We are not an insurance carrier: we do not issue, underwrite, or guarantee policies.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information through our website, landing pages, forms, calls, texts, emails, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), including our marketing and lead-generation activities. It applies to visitors, prospective customers, and customers of the Service. Where a product- or state-specific notice conflicts with this Policy, the more specific notice controls.
Contact information: name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
Application and quote information: age, date of birth, gender, state of residence, coverage preferences, beneficiary information, and other lifestyle details relevant to insurance eligibility.
Health and lifestyle information: general health information, tobacco use, and medical history you voluntarily provide to support insurance quoting and underwriting. We treat this as Sensitive Personal Information under applicable privacy law — see Section 13 for your rights to limit its use. We are not a HIPAA-covered entity; health information you share with us is protected under this Privacy Policy and applicable state insurance data-privacy laws rather than HIPAA.
Financial and insurance information: income range, existing coverage, financial goals, and insurance needs.
Communications: messages, call recordings, SMS communications, chatbot interactions, and email correspondence with us.
Marketing preferences: your choices about receiving marketing communications and your engagement with our ads or campaigns.
Other information: anything else you choose to submit through forms, surveys, reviews, or similar means.
If you provide information about a beneficiary or family member, please do so only with their knowledge and consent.
We may combine what you give us with information from insurance carriers and underwriting partners, licensed agents and brokers, marketing partners and lead providers, public records, analytics and advertising platforms, and, where applicable, consumer reporting agencies.
Where we receive a lead from a third-party provider, we require that provider to represent that it obtained any consent legally required before sending us your information.
When you visit our website, we and our partners may automatically collect device data (IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system), online activity data (pages visited, time on site, clicks, referring URLs), general location data (city/state level), and communication interaction data (email opens, link clicks, SMS engagement).
We use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the site, analyze traffic, improve the user experience, and deliver relevant advertising. The categories of cookies used on this site are strictly necessary, functional, analytics, and advertising/targeting cookies; analytics and advertising cookies are not set until permitted by your preferences where required by law.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, and we honor recognized opt-out preference signals — including the Global Privacy Control (GPC) — where required by law. Where we detect a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for that browser or device.
We use your information to:
We require the service providers who support these activities — including CRM, marketing, advertising, call-tracking, analytics, and scheduling platforms — to protect your personal information consistent with applicable law.
Because we help arrange insurance products, certain federal and state laws written specifically for insurance apply to how we handle your information, in addition to the general privacy practices described elsewhere in this Policy.
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA): We maintain practices consistent with the GLBA Privacy Rule for nonpublic personal financial information you provide in connection with insurance products. That information is used to facilitate quotes and applications, may be shared with carriers, agents, and service providers as described in Section 7, and is otherwise handled as described in this Policy. You may opt out of having your nonpublic personal financial information shared with nonaffiliated third parties for marketing purposes by emailing christopher.franklin@lifeinsuredbychris.com with "GLBA Opt-Out." An annual GLBA privacy notice is available upon request.
State Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Laws: Many states in which we operate have adopted versions of the NAIC Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Model Act, which governs how information collected in connection with insurance transactions may be collected, used, and disclosed. Consistent with these laws, we collect insurance-related personal information only for purposes reasonably necessary to provide quotes, process applications, and service your request; we do not use health or medical information for any purpose unrelated to insurance underwriting or quoting without your consent; and, where applicable law requires it, we will provide you with notice and an opportunity to correct or amend insurance-related personal information we hold about you. To request access or correction of insurance-related records, contact us using the information in Section 17.
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, to meet legal and regulatory record keeping obligations, and to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. As a general matter:
We may share your information with:
Insurance carriers and licensed agents, to provide quotes and complete applications. By requesting a quote, you acknowledge your information may be shared with more than one licensed provider for this purpose.
Service providers, including website hosting, CRM systems, marketing platforms, call-tracking, and analytics providers, who process information on our behalf.
Marketing and advertising partners, for campaign delivery and retargeting, where permitted by law.
Regulators and legal authorities, when required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights.
A successor business, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
In the preceding 12 months, we have disclosed the categories of information above for these business purposes, and have sold or shared Contact Data, Application & Quote Data, and Online Activity Data with marketing and advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not sell or share Health & Lifestyle Data for advertising purposes.
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction — including access controls that limit who within our organization can view sensitive submissions, encryption of data in transit between your browser and our forms, and vendor agreements that require our service providers to maintain comparable protections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify affected individuals and applicable regulators as required by state breach-notification laws.
Marketing opt-out: click "unsubscribe" in any email, or reply "STOP" to any text message.
Calls and Do Not Call requests: ask any agent who calls you to add you to our internal Do Not Call list, or email us as described in Section 17.
Cookies and tracking: adjust your browser settings, use ad-blocking tools, or rely on a Global Privacy Control signal, which we honor as described in Section 3.
Access, correction, and deletion: contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you.
Do Not Track: we may not respond to every browser "Do Not Track" signal, but we do honor Global Privacy Control signals as described in Section 3.
If you are in a sensitive situation — such as an experience of domestic violence, stalking, or a similar safety concern — and need additional privacy protections, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to protect your information, such as limiting how and where we store or transmit it.
Our Service may link to third-party websites, including carrier and partner sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing information.
Our Service is not directed to, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, anyone under 18, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We also do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 without opt-in consent, as required by the CCPA. If we learn we've collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly. A parent or guardian who believes their child has submitted information to us may contact us using the information in Section 17.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to:
Categories of personal information we collect fall within: identifiers (name, email, phone); customer records (insurance-related information); internet or network activity (website interactions); inferences drawn from the above (preferences, profiles); and sensitive personal information (health/medical information, tobacco use).
To exercise these rights, email christopher.franklin@lifeinsuredbychris.com, or use the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" and "Limit the Use of My Sensitive Personal Information" links in our website footer. We may need to verify your identity using information already on file before processing your request. We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days, with a possible one-time 45-day extension where reasonably necessary, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. To appeal a denied request, email us with "Privacy Appeal" in the subject line; we will respond within 45 days. A toll-free phone number for privacy requests is not currently available in addition to the methods above.
If you are a resident of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you generally have rights similar to those in Section 13, including the right to confirm whether we process your data and access it; correct inaccuracies; request deletion; obtain a portable copy of your data; and opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data, and profiling used in decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Several of these states also require us to obtain your opt-in consent before processing Sensitive Personal Information — such as health or medical information — rather than simply offering an opt-out. Where that applies, we will ask for your affirmative consent before processing such information for any purpose beyond providing the quote or service you requested.
To exercise these rights or appeal a decision, email christopher.franklin@lifeinsuredbychris.com with your state of residence. We will respond within the timeframe required by your state's law, generally 45 days.
This section applies only if you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland ("EEA/UK Users"). Our Service is designed for U.S. residents, but if you are an EEA/UK User and submit personal data to us:
To exercise these rights, contact christopher.franklin@lifeinsuredbychris.com.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a revised effective date, and where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
